Today James Cameron completed his dive to the deepest point in the ocean the Mariana Trench‘s Challenger Deep. He becomes the 3rd person to do so, the first in 40 years, the first to solo dive (the original dive was done by 2 people) and the first to be able to record his observations and take samples.
National Geographic seems to be one of the sponsors so hopefully in less than a year James Cameron will put together a movie or series of TV episode chronicling his dive to the Mariana Trench. I recently watched James Cameron’s Ghosts of the Abyss which has some fascinating views of the ocean. I’m sure we all expect this dive to produce similar results!
