Four days ago my grandfather Edwin Kammerer passed away after 97 years on this planet. He was a fun loving guy that always had a joke ready, enjoyed walking everywhere despite owning a car and could always relate something back to the farm in South Dakota. I suppose that’s what grandparents are good for – relating the current times to the past.
Grandpa Ed married my grandmother Melva before I was born and although he was a step parent to my Dad, Uncle and Aunt, I never knew anything other than he was family. My mother’s Dad passed away when I was very young so he really was the only grandfather I ever knew or had.
